이 사진들은 나의 네팔에서의 첫인상이다. 처음 네팔에 갔을때 멋진 에베르스트산을 찍어야겠다고 생각했다. 그런데, 생각지도 않게 나는 네팔 사람들에게 더 끌리고 말았다. 그들에게서는 낯선 감정과 친근한 감정이 동시에 느껴진다. 세르파들이 우리와 같은 몽골리안이어서 일까? 그 이후 여러번 에베레스트에 가서 촬영을 했었지만, 처음 그들과 대면했을 때 느꼈던 감정들을 잊지 못한다.

These photos are my first impressions of Nepal. When I first visited Nepal, I thought about taking magnificent photos of Mount Everest. However, I was instead strangely drawn to the people of Nepal. The people of Nepal elicited both unfamiliar and familiar feelings in me. Could it be because the Sherpas (people who live around Mt. Everest and became famous as porters for Mt. Everest summit) are of the same Mongolian descent as myself? I have since been to Mount Everest several times to take photographs but I can never forget the impressions from my first visit.
